Some emotive beautiful images

We hit a jackpot when we discovered Sarah, she is one of the most talented photographers I have ever come across. Please check out her website: http://www.sarahlouisephotography.com/
Here are some of the latest pictures Sara took of some of our headpieces, some of the designs you have seen before, but Sarah manages to show them in a completely different light.  The only new piece is the tiara, email us for further information on this one as it was a special commission that we can reproduce, you don't have to wear it far down like the model, but the picture really shows off it's elegance. We have worked with Sarah before, but these pictures really blow us away!

A Royal Wedding!

Within an hour of the exciting news that the engagement has been announced of William to Kate Middleton, my local paper had called me to ask my opinion on what kind of tiara I thought she would wear? I am sure Kate will have her pick of the royal jewels, I am wondering if it will be the Cambridge Lovers knot tiara that the Queen had inherited from her Grandmother Queen Mary? This tiara became a favorite piece of the Queen, who wore it for many formal occasions. Queen Elizabeth II later gave it as a wedding gift to Princess Diana, at the time she married Prince Charles. It was then that the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara reached the height of its popularity, as the piece came to be associated with the image of the popular princess. However, after her divorce from the Prince of Wales the tiara was returned to Her Majesty the Queen. Perhaps the Queen will give it to Kate now?

Made for Queen Mary in 1913 by Garrad

Or how about the tiara William's mother Princess Diana wore on her wedding day? This tiara was a Spencer family piece and has an elaborate design of stylised flowers decorated with diamonds in silver settings. Diana went on to wear it and others many times during her lifetime. Her brother later reported that it gave her a headache all day!

Whatever she chooses  (and I hope she will be allowed to choose!) she will be sure to look beautiful, with that glorious long  brunette hair any diamonds in her hair will shine and she will look radiant!  We can't wait for the big day over here at Flo & Percy!

The Making of the Crown

A few people have asked about the crown we made for the Rock N  Roll bride shoot, so I thought I would show you a few close ups of it. In total, excluding design work, it took about 30 hours to make. The Complete structure was covered in silver metallic ribbon before I hand beaded the frame. I started by creating the base and built it up from there. So what will we do with it now? Suggestions welcome!

Field of Dreams

We had some very sad news here recently, a little girl aged 8 whose Mother is a dear friend of mine has passed away. Molly Field was a beautiful little girl with a sparkling personality.  In her memory and to celebrate her life and the start of Autumn we are dedicating this new design to her. All profits go to Great Ormond Street hospital, which is an amazing pioneering hospital helping sick children. It needs 50 million pounds a year to stay open.

You can order Field of Dreams which is handmade to order via our website

Top Wedding professional gets married!

We were honoured that the lovely Julia Ford from Wedding Magazine chose to wear one of our headpieces for her wedding day. Julia is the Art Editor for the popular magazine and also a talented photographer based in Essex ( like us!). The Clarice headband looks great on blondes so it was a really good choice against her hair colour and bought some vintage prettiness to her outfit.  The stunning photos were taken by Emily Quinton who I have always much admired. Lovely husband Julia has too, lucky girl!

Recent News /New Collection

We have been very tardy updating our blog recently but it is only because we are prioritising our brides weddings first!
We are half way through the summer and already the brides pictures have been flooding in. Did you see our new Flo & Percy VIP page? We have added a brides gallery with all the lovely pictures you send us. I am hoping that they will be really useful to other brides. It is amazing to see all the different hairstyles and dresses.

2011 Collection
We have spent the last 6 months designing our 2011 collection and it will finally launch at the End of September. So it is all hush, hush for the moment. I may drip feed a few clues about the collection so keep watching. We had the shoot for it on Sunday and all went well, after a very fraught and hectic start. Some very talented people were invloved who I will mention in full another time. I am very pleased with the results, it was exactly the vibe I was planning. I can't wait to show you all the results and the amazing headpieces we have for you. So here is one little personal picture I took, which does not give too much away. The lady in pink is a friend of mine who styled the shoot, she is ex Cosmo Beauty writer and stylist ( what a great friend to have!) The incredible photographer is Lizzie Lois who contacted me out of the blue and when I clicked on her website I knew she was the one! Her boyfriend you can see helping who is also a professional photographer. Anyway more news on that later!

Lindsay looks stunning in our Clarice headband

Not so long ago we posted about Chloe a stunning blonde in the Clarice, so I thought it would be really good to show a beautiful dark Irish beauty in the same piece. Lindsay from Dublin ( they have great taste over there you know!) sent us a few of her wedding pictures to share with you.

A quote from Lindsay:

"They were perfect and everyone commented on them."

Red roses and The Bara comb

It is as you know so wonderful to receive our brides wedding photos and be able to use them here. The beautiful Zoe did not disappoint us with her beautiful pictures by very talented and new wedding photographer Hector Mora who really captured the romance of the day. Please check out his fantastic website, he covers all areas. Zoe wore our Bara comb and the lines in it really emulated the bodice of her Maggie Sottero dress well.

Many congratulations to Zoe and her husband, thank you again for the photos, here are a few words from her:
"I just wanted to thank you for such a beautiful piece of jewellery and how many people commented on it was amazing!"

Chloe in the Clarice!

Our Clarice headband and cuff is proving to be a big favourite this month and you can really see why especially in this lovely picture that one of my brides Chloe sent me! Chloe was lucky to have a Jenny Packham dress and wow, look at her hair! Amazing how she has worn it and I would really like to credit her hairdresser if I knew who she was!  Chloe is another of my customers who may have caught the wedding bug and is thinking of opening her own Wedding boutique, watch this space and we will let you know!

Many thanks again Chloe and congratulations to you both from the F&P team.

Tracey in The Bara Comb

It amazes me how many of my brides get captivated by organising their wedding and then go on to do something in the wedding industry post the big day! Tracey has started a lovely business of her own called Beau Made with Love and produces beautiful wedding stationary. She also has a very interesting blog where she writes regularly about her inspiration and all things weddingy!

Anyway here are some lovely pictures that Tracey was kind enough to send me of her on her big day wearing our Bara comb.

Good Luck with your business Tracey and thanks again for the beautiful pictures!

A Bride in our Birdcage veil!

The birdcage veil is becoming more and more popular and we were so pleased to receive some pictures of it looking glorious on one of our brides. This lady with a very pretty name of Luan, has discerning tastes as she actually owns her own bridal boutique, Betty Lou Brides so she had her pick of the designers to choose from. She opted for an Ian Stuart dress during the day and a Jenny Packham for the evening, but kept her Flo & Percy birdcage veil on the whole time.

Here are a few words from Luan:

"I did wear the Birdcage veil in the end, with both dresses, I didnt want to take it off and everyone absolutely loved it! Thanks again for designing it! It was perfect!"

Thanks to Luan and her husband for sharing the pictures and the best of luck to them both.

Our Bride in a Magazine!

We were so thrilled that one of our brides Robyn sent us an email today letting us know that her wedding appeared in a magazine!

Robyn chose the Brooks headband as the pattern in the middle is similar to the Maltese Cross and therefore went with her military theme. Robyn has a brave husband who has fought in Iraq, and is now serving in Afghanistan, just look at all those medals he has already.

Love the way Robyn co-ordinated the bridesmaids outfits to match her husbands uniform. Her beautiful dress was by Donna Salado.

Here are a few words from Robyn:

"I have been meaning to get in touch to say thank you, as I thought how beautiful all the designs are and as you can see by the comment in the article, my headband is not only beautiful but also in keeping with the military theme of our wedding!"

Thank you again Robyn and best of luck to you both!
